With an average service activity lasting three hours, this would equal nearly 10,000 volunteer hours! The photos on the left and stories below are some examples of the various projects performed by Westlake company employees worldwide. Houston, Texas, USA At our corporate headquarters in Houston, Texas, 110 volunteers helped the Houston Food Bank with their “Backpack Buddy program.” According to the Houston Food Bank, one in four children in southeast Texas are at risk of hunger. Our volunteers packed 7,500 backpacks, which provide food to children who receive subsidized school meals, ensuring that they have healthy meals over the weekend. Bristol, Tennessee and Marion, Virginia, USA Our Royal employees in Bristol, Tennessee and Marion, Virginia helped build a house for the Washington County chapter of Habitat for Humanity. They worked together to build a porch, attach exterior siding, build door frames and more. Jiangsu Province, China In Jiangsu Province, China, our Huasu team members held a month-long book drive and collected all kinds of books to donate to those in need in their local community. Cologne, Germany Volunteers from our Vinnolit Cologne and Knapsack locations visited the “Präses-Held-Haus” senior citizens’ home in Wesseling, Germany to plant flower boxes. Several of the residents eagerly chose the flowers they liked best for their personal window boxes and helped with the planting. After the boxes were planted, volunteers visited with the seniors over lunch.
